Reading the Pumpkin Color Emergent Reader
This emergent reader features sight word of ‘I see a’ and also the word pumpkin.
It also features 9 color words including pink, purple, blue, red, black, green, yellow, orange and brown.
I started with reading the words by myself. For example, ‘I see a pink pumpkin.’
But since my girls already know their colors, eventually I pause at the color words to let them read them.
For example, for the word ‘I see a blue pumpkin.’, we would go like this:
Me : ‘I see a..’
My girls : blue
Me : pumpkin.
It might look as if they don’t read, but surprisingly, they are learning that way.
My daughter Maryam (6 years old) has already identified the word ‘yellow’ and ‘pink’.
As with the sight word ‘I see a’, don’t worry too much.
Do lots of reading together, they will eventually grab those word subconsciously.
Let’s have fun pumpkin reading!
